You all are requested to participate in our SARASWATI PUJA to be held on February 23, 2008 at Artesia. Saraswati is the goddess of learning and children and teenagers are most welcome in this yearly festive event.

Dakshini is organizing Recitation Competition, Drawing Competition and Dance/Singing Performance during the Saraswati Puja.  
Parents are requested to encourage their kids to participate actively in this year’s Puja. Do join us in large numbers!

About the artists for the Entertainment (in the evening)

Madhumita Chatterjee is a gifted artist who specializes in Rabindra Sangeet, Bengali modern songs, hindi film songs, ghazals and light classical. Her training started at the age of six under her mother and then under the legendary Smt. Suchitra Mitra. Madhumita holds the unique distinction of having stood first in all 13 years of training at the Rabi Tirtha Music School (Kolkata) and received a gold medal. Later she received a Sangeet Prabhakar Degree from “Prayag Sangeet Samiti”, Allahabad . She was a regular artist in Calcutta Radio and Television. Her first album was released by HMV in 1979 called “Ore Mor Sishu Bhola Nath”. In 2003 her adhunik album “Emotional Eyes” was released in Kolkata by Beethoven Records. In 2007, her first Rabindra Sangeet  album “E Pothe Ami Je” was released by  Cozmik Harmony Records. Her music video is presently topping the charts on YouTube.com. Her first Hindi album “From My Heart” is a journey down memory lane in which she pays tribute to Lata, Asha and Kishore. Madhumita is a sought after singer who continues to amaze her audience with her versatility and soulful singing.   Madhumita also directs a music school “Saptak” in Rancho Cucamonga teaching music full-time.

 Accompanying on multiple keyboards and guitar is Samir Chatterjee. He learned guitar under Swapan Chatterjee and Tutul Ganguly. He has accompanied and recorded with several well known musicians like Hemant Kumar, Runa Laila, Bani Thakur, Hoimonti Shukla. He has accompanied live on stage Ghazal Badshah Jagjit Singh. He has worked with Ustad Aashish Khan, Joey Sommerville, Jeff Jusial, Marty Cheyka, Durbadal Chatterjee, and Madhu Mukherjee. He recorded and composed the first ever Bengali Broadway show “Sinbad” in Los Angeles . He continues to experiment with digital recording in his home studio and is presently composing for a commercial Bengali film to be released soon in Kolkata. He also holds a PhD in computer science and is a Professor at Claremont Graduate University in California .
