It all started in July 2010 at Dakshini Community Center when we all sat down to define the purpose and objectives of Dakshini. Identifying the socio-cultural cause for which Dakshini is, the communitity urged that Sports be included in Dakshini’s Charter.
With utmost urgency, Dakshini announced a Sports Initiative, as part of its ongoing “Community First” initiatives for expanding outreach. We are glad to state that in a very short time since its inception, the Sports Committee did an outstanding job to launch the program. In 2010, a number of sports events were held: Soccer, Cricket, Bridge, Sports across several zones in Southern California. We need YOU to make Sports an integral part of our Bengali extended family. We are giving special emphasis to you, to make this a true “sharbojonin” event.
We need a lot of volunteers for the various events. We also appreciate any donations to help us with the expenses of booking venues, insurance, medals, entertai inment events, food, equipments and logistics etc. Make checks payable to Dakshini, or pay online at www.dakshini.org. Arnab provided a tremendous leadership to the Sports Initiative in 2010-2011, and all of us at Dakshini needs to carry the Sports Initiative forward andd make Sports an integral part of the Community. Please come forward and join this leadership team in this Community First initiative.
