“Please come, have a seat and laugh out loud”: yes, this is the theme of the Bengali Drama কনে বিভ্রাট (“Kone Bibhrat”) that is going to be staged at upcoming Saraswati Puja 2012. Directed by our very dynamic community enthusiast Arnab Chatterjee, and enacted by members of the community, it is a hilarious drama for pure entertainment. |

The first one is a Rabindra Geeti Alekhyo titled "Tomai Gaan Shonabo" Coordinated by Biswarupa Dube. The program is brought to you by Dakshini's Amra Kajon - Biswarupa Dube, Barna Saha, Padmaparna Chatterjee, Dipanwita Banerjee, Riddhi Chakraborty, Tuhinkana Das, Prateeti Ghosh, Archana Datta, Madhumita Basu, Sharmila Dasgupta, Sampurna Dube, Siddhartha Dattagupta and Sangita Chattaraj. |

The second one is a Kathak Dance Ganesh Vandana, performed by Sourabhi Sen. This is what Sourabhi Sen has to say about her: "I came in 2005 from India to do my Masters in Economics in Cal State Fullerton. I got a job in Boston in 2007 and since then have been working with a company called eClinicalWorks as a Technical Writer. I got married in 2008 and moved back to CA (currently Lakewod, CA) and have been working remotely for the same company. I have danced/choreographed all my life in India on Rabindrasangeet, dance dramas, folk dance, and bollywood music. I grew up in Orissa so only saw Odissi dancers around, but my real love was Kathak. I was fortunate to learn a year and more of Kathak in Orissa where there was a dearth of Kathak teachers. Here in USA, I learnt about Sundar Kala Kendra Kathak school and started learning Kathak there under Smt Anjani Ambegaokar, since 2008. I am still a student, and hope to learn and perform more as time goes". The Third One is brought to you by acclaimed singer Sabarni Das Gupta. |

Led by Dr Rini Ghosh and Mr Dulal Goswami, Dakshini is organizing the Saraswati Puja in an unique way. We will offer our Puja with explanations of the Puja and Mantras, and provide an auspicious offering by use of songs. The team will also take this opportunity to discuss Swami Vivekananda’s life and happenings of his 150th Birthday Celebration around the community.
The event will host the Kids Sit and Draw contest. The Drawing Contest will be held between 11.30 AM and 2 PM at the venue. Crayons and paper will be provided by the organizers.
The DIGANTA Editorial Board (Sharmila Dasgupta, Saheli Banerjee and Shawli Roy) is glad to announce the details of the “Kids Essay Writing Contest”.
1. Contestants will be divided into 3 categories: Elementary School ,Middle School and High School kids.
2. Kids will be requested to pick one of the topics from the list below and write at the venue. All submissions will be published in DIGANTA’s next edition, after Editorial Board review. Please contact the Editorial Board at dakshinila@yahoo.com if you have any questions.
3. Time: 11.30 AM to 2 PM
4. Pen, pencil and paper will be provided at the venue.
