Ustad Shahid Parvez, a maestro of global acclaim, is regarded as one of the finest Indian Classical musicians of today. He is from the Etawah gharana, the first family of sitar, and strives to push the boundaries of his music while upholding his rich traditional roots.
Ustad Shahid Parvez has been awarded many prestigious awards for his music, including the Government of India’s ‘Padma Shri’ and the ‘Sangeet Natak Academy Award.’ He has a distinguished performing career all over the world, and we are honored to welcome him to our stage.
Accompanying Ustad Shahid Parvez on the tabla is Pandit Abhiman Kaushal, an outstanding exponent of tabla. He has toured extensively with most leading artists of Indian classical music in international appearances and was a featured musician in the Grammy winning album White Sun II.
Abhiman is a faculty member at UCLA and UCR where he imparts knowledge on tabla and its nuances to students of various backgrounds. We invite everyone to come join us and hear the musical duo in person.

This modern rendition of the epic tale of Mahabharata has a subtle touch of contemporary sensibilities. Written by Dr. Sucharit Sarkar, directed by Siddhartha Duttagupta, presented by Dakshini members.
This Bengali rendition of the famous drama Annie is full of energy, poetry and music, is performed by the Dakshini kids who have worked so hard to make this show possible. Directed by Dr. Chameli Biswas.
Phire Eso Ma Dugga:
Phire Eso Ma Dugga - This devotional dance recital by Dakshini members celebrates Ma Durga's departure from her paternal home for her heavenly abode and begs her to return to us next year. Directed by Dr. Bhaswati Moulik.
